Noah's Birthday

O.K., I'm a little late on Noah's birthday report. Because he had his party so early, I didn't want his actual birthday to be a total bust, so we tried to make it a special day. After a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, I excused him from homeschool for the day (also a little treat for me!). I also did his chores for him and let him play all day. I tried not to be offended when I offered to make him anything he wanted for dinner and he asked if we could just go to McDonalds. Yeah. So, ofcourse, you know where we had dinner. After a delicious dinner of chicken parts and such, we headed home for Noah's favorite Oreo dessert. He said he had a great birthday. Ah, sweet success.

Happy Birthday Micah

Even though we celebrated this weekend, Micah's actual birthday is today. We spent the afternoon at the park and then went out to dinner at O'Charleys with our friends Kyle and Brittany where Micah exercised his right to "cry if he wants to" (it's his party...). It's so hard to believe that is has been a year since God answered our prayers in the form of a beautiful, healthy baby boy. I'm reminded of His faithfulness and his goodness and am so thankful for the blessing that is Micah.

Micah was serious about some cake!

The game and the parties were a success! Thanks go out to the party hostess and the grill master (Nana and Grandy).

Building anticipation

Yesterday was a big day! Noah played his first soccer game of the season and scored 3 goals! After that we headed to my mom and dads for a combo birthday party with cousins. The boys had a lot of fun and got spoiled with too many gifts ofcourse. Unfortunately I won't be able to post any pics until I get home Tuesday, so stay tuned......

Fall Fun Fest???

It's a (short lived) tradition for us to attend Cookeville's annual Fall Fun Fest with our friends David and Candice Stites and their daughters. I think we had some fun, regardless of the multiple injuries, swarming crowds, and ridiculously loud music placed directly by the childrens play area (aargh). Noah busted his mouth on one of the inflatables. He knocked his top two front teeth really loose, so he might be a snaggle tooth by his birthday. I think Micah just enjoyed the people watching. Noah and Anna Kathryn were really cute together. We actually saw some spontaneous hand holding. We'll say a good time was had by most. I tried out the night shot on my camera, which is why Noah and Anna Kathryn appear to be somewhat supernatural in their picture together. Not of fan of the old "night shot".

Rookie

I am trying out digital scrapbooking since I don't seem to ever find time to do it the real way lately. I'm still learning and these are my first ever pages (disclaimer in case you think they totally stink), but I thought I would share them.

It's official

Well, it's official. Micah is a walker. I would say he walks more than he crawls now. He's still a little wobbly of course, but it seems like his confidence and ability grow by the hour rather than by the day now. He is VERY proud of his new skill and when he gets going for a while he usually starts to laugh, which is so cute I could just eat him up!

Noah and Micah's jam session
I gave Noah my ancient MP3 player which holds like 15 songs (a far cry from the 30 GB ipod), but he thinks it's the coolest thing ever. He walks around the house singing (at the top of his lungs) all day. He is such a sweet big brother. He loves and protects Micah so much. He's still doing great with school and his reading skills seem to be improving daily. That's a huge blessing because teaching him to read was the thing I was most intimidated by.
Happy Birthday Grandy! My dad had a birthday today. We are going to celebrate his, Noah's and Micah's birthdays next weekend with a SAFARI party! Noah and Micah just wanted to keep it simple, but dad insisted on the SAFARI theme, so you know, whatever.

my quick thought to share:
i found myself frustrated this week by what felt like never ending busyness. some, like my husband, seem to enjoy this busyness or atleast thrive in it. i however am easily overwhelmed and would prefer a slower pace. but alas, being the mother of two small boys and the wife of a man who's not ok with a status quo life (thankfully) means that i am going to be busy. in my frustration with that this week, i really felt that God led me to realize how blessed i am to have people and purposes to be busy about. it sure beats a lonely, dull life-right?
