The Dump

Spoiler Alert -
This video will, or should, spoil the pleasure that we take in living our lives surrounded by extreme comfort and excess.  I know, you can't wait to watch it, right?!
Yes, it is a long video.
Slightly longer than "The Office".
Can you give these people 38 minutes of your time today?

(be sure to scroll down and turn the music off at the bottom of the page)

Duane and I were able to spend some time with Marc, one of the gentlemen interviewed on the video, this weekend.  He lives in Honduras and is doing all he can to be Christ to the people in the dump. What you've seen here is reality for too many people - many of them small children.  If anyone feels compelled to help in any way, we would be happy to put you in touch with Marc.  Please pray for the work that they are doing to restore dignity to these children of God.

Childbirth in Ethiopia

Check out this story the Today Show did on childbirth in Ethiopia.
It's quite likely our little girl will enter the world under these circumstances.
Today I am thankful for and praying for her birth mother.

Happy 50th Mom!

Mom turned 50 a couple of weeks ago. We celebrated with a few friends and family at Nero's grill. It was a great night to celebrate 50 years of life with our sweet mom! This is the video that I made for her. It's a little long, but I felt pretty good about fitting 50 years into 10 minutes :).

Anybody know where the 2020 Olympics will be?

Noah just finished 7 weeks of swim lessons. It has kept us very busy this summer, but has been well worth it. He has improved so much and actually competed in his first swim meet on Saturday! He did great. He placed 4th in the backstroke and 1st in freestyle. Technically there were 2 heats in his age group for freestyle and we only know that he won his heat, but we will find out where he placed overall on Tuesday. We are proud of him either way of course!

My Jesus

You may have to scroll down and turn off the Disney World video music to hear this :). This girl is a poet and has lots of cool videos on You Tube and other places. Talking about Easter with my kids this week has left me feeling extremely overwhelmed by what my God and my Savior sacrificed for me! Easter bunnies and eggs are fun and we do all of those things, but I'm really trying this year to make sure my kids understand what this holiday is truly about. An almighty God submitting himself to death, for me. And then by His awesome power overcoming the grave! Praise God for an empty tomb and my living Savior! Happy early Easter :)

Valentine's from NaNa

We were playing outside Saturday when the mailman came with another valentine's package. This one was from my sweet NaNa, the kid's great-grandmother. Thank you NaNa!!

Special Delivery

The doorbell rang this morning and Noah went to see who it was. It was the UPS man. Noah being his cynical self (don't know where he gets that! ) says "Mom, what did you order this time?" Noah always complains about how the mail/pkgs are never for him. I ofcourse always ask him when was the last time he sent someone a letter or package. I'm very compassionate that way. Anyway, I finally revealed that the large box sitting at our door was a
Valentine's package for them from Grandy and Nana. This is the elation that followed.

We're leaving for Disney World next Saturday!
