long week!

Well, it's been a long week for we Dixons. Micah got sick last weekend and ended up having roseola. About the time that he recovered, Noah got sick. Not sure yet if it's roseola. After being stuck in the house all week, last night pandemonium broke loose while I was cooking dinner. Sophia was screaming, Noah was puking (on our new rug), and Micah was eating toothpaste (something he does any chance he gets - and yes I know that's very bad). Anyway, last week was a good week, so I'll just blog about it :). After some very trying times since the baby was born, Duane and I decided to put Micah in mother's day out on Fridays so that I could have a day to run some errands and regain my sanity :). Here's a typical situation I might find Micah in at home: (I didn't take the time to get my camera when I found him hanging from the top shelf of the closet.)I wasn't sure how he would respond to mother's day out, but he did great and seemed to be excited about it. Here he is getting ready to go:

And here are a couple of newer pics of sweet Sophia and Noah
(props to my Holly on the adorable dress in the first picture)

We are looking forward to a healthy week next week!

Sweet Saturday

Micah got his first tricycle today! He is so excited. He feels like a big boy because he has a "bike" like his big brother.
And as an expert, his big brother was excited to give him some tips on pedaling.

This picture was taken only seconds before Micah's first CRASH. Noah gave him a push down the driveway and I was taking the picture. I thought Duane was right behind me ready to catch him - but he was at the mailbox. Oops. Thankfully he veered into the grass before he face planted. I was so proud of him though because he got right back on. That's my boy!

And of course, here are a couple of pictures of our sweet Sophia.

Noah had a soccer game today and did awesome. He scored an amazing goal and had lots of great passes. No pictures because I was in the car with Sophia and Duane gets so "into it" that I think he forgot :). Hope you are all having a Saturday as full of blessings as ours has been!

Sophia update

Sophia grows more beautiful everyday and the whole family is falling more and more in love with her. The boys are doing great with her and want to hold and kiss her all of the time. Her daddy is already feeling how different having a daughter is going to be from our rough, tough boys! And her mommy is thrilled to have another female in the house :). Check out that dimple.

Sophia Grace

Sophia Grace has arrived! She entered the world at 2:48 Tuesday morning weighing a whopping 8 lbs 7oz. Her mommy is thankful that she was 2 weeks early! She was 20 1/2 inches long, has a head full of black hair and cute chubby cheeks. Here are a few pictures of our sweet new baby girl. Many more to follow soon I'm sure :).

Still hanging in

Just a little update. The good news - It's possible that little Sophia might not be as stubborn and strongwilled as her 2 older brothers! After her one failed attempt at coming into the world, it seems she's decided to give up and stay put :). The bad news - We have to wait longer to see her sweet face :( . Seriously though, we are thankful for the prayers on her behalf and God has been faithful to answer them and keep her safely inside until He is finished with her. We are very grateful for that and willing to wait a little longer. It shouldn't be more than 2 or 3 weeks anyway, and we all know how fast that amount of time flies by!

Whoa there little girl

Sophia Grace thought that she was ready to come onto the scene last night. At about 11 pm I started having contractions. At first, I was in denial. I am SO unprepared this time. When we realized they were exactly 5 minutes apart, Duane started packing bags and cameras. I was like "what are you doing?- this is nothing". But, it didn't take long for me to realize that it was in fact "something" and a call to my midwife confirmed we needed to head to the hospital. We called some friends to come stay with the boys and headed out around 1 am. By the time they got me into my room the contractions were 3 minutes apart. At this point I was pretty sure today would be her birthday. They hooked me up to all kinds of junk and gave me a shot to stop the contractions. They weren't very hopeful that it would work because I am already dilated to 4. But they wanted to give it a try, because they would really like for me to hold on atleast 2 more weeks when I will be 37 wks. Thankfully it did work and we came home around 8 this morning. Now I am supposed to be "taking it easy". Mom took Micah for a couple of days, which will make that a little easier to do. Please just pray for healthy lungs and that she will come when God's finished with her in there :).

Zoo Birthdays

The boys had a great time celebrating their birthdays at the zoo on Saturday. They were joined by lots of cousins, aunts, uncles, and Grandy and Nana. With all of our crazy boys, we joked that "the zoo" had come to the zoo.

Two

While Micah has been unofficially "2" for a while now :), today made it official. I started first thing this morning telling him happy birthday and for the rest of the day he's gone around saying "Happy Day". He's also trying so hard to hold up just 2 fingers when he says "2", but he just can't quite get it. He had a fun time with his friends at CBS this morning and we had a small celebration tonight with cake and presents. I'm pretty sure, however, that his favorite part of the day was playing in the dirt with Noah and Daddy. As the cake maker and gift purchaser/wrapper, I'm trying not to be offended that I was overshadowed by DIRT. Such is the life of the mother of boys I suppose.

I have a hard time believing our little miracle Micah has been here for 2 years. God is so good and so faithful. I am guilty of taking that for granted so often. We are thankful for the 2 precious years we've had with Micah and pray for many more. While he is very challenging at times, even that mostly stems from the fact that he is just loving life! Of course I hope the challenging part fades away and the loving life part remains :). What? A girl can dream can't she?

The Big Leagues

Noah had his first soccer game of the season on Saturday. He moved up this season to the 8 and under team. I admit I was a little apprehensive about him being one of the youngest kids on the team instead of the biggest kid like he was last year. But, he did great! He scored a goal the first quarter and hung in there with the bigger kids the whole game. It was actually hard to tell he was even much younger. Here are some pics. He's #3.

More 50th party pics as promised
