a festivus for the rest of us

Yesterday was fall festivities day at the Dixon house. Noah and I spent the afternoon making scarecrow cookies and delivering them to our neighbors. Then, after some tasty burritos for dinner, Noah and Duane skillfully carved our 3 pumpkins (Duane's much better and safer with large knives than I am). I even gave toasting the pumpkin seeds a shot, but they turned out to be pretty disgusting. Ah well. The day ended with the pumpkin lighting ceremony. Noah is at such a fun age for things like this. I'm trying to focus more on the boys rather than on the less significant things I have been focusing on recently. I think yesterday was a good start. I have such sweet boys. I want to do my best to soak up every day I have with them and give them the kind of mom they deserve. I know that it is only by the grace of God that I will manage to do either of those things, which makes me even more grateful to know that his grace is sufficient!

Cute cookies! Looks like a fun day!

You do have such sweet boys...and your boys have such a sweet mom.

Thank you for reminding me to stay focused on the important things. Why is that always so challenging?

Very cute cookies! And did I mention that Duane makes me sick with his artistic skills? Our pumpkins are still sitting uncarved because we are afraid of what they will look like! I love you, and you are an inspiration as a mother! Cant' wait to see you next week!

I was going to try to roast our pumpkin seeds tomorrow. Is it a waste of time? Andy really wants to plant them so he can grow pumpkins for next year. When do you plant pumpkin seeds? Your scarecrows turned out great! You are harder on yourself than any one else is. You are a great mom and always have been!
Loveyou!

celeste,
i'm not a gardener from way back, but i don't think you would plant those seeds until late spring?? i think our seeds might have just been tough. i didn't really seek any instruction on how to do it either, so you might just do your homework. ofcourse, how hard should it really be, right??
